Counseling Services

As therapists with Sanctuary Counseling Group (SCG), we work with individuals, couples, families, groups, adults, children, adolescents, single-parent families and step-families struggling with a variety of issues, including:

  • stress

  • self-esteem

  • guilt and shame

  • depression and anxiety

  • anger management

  • loss and complicated grief

  • marital and family conflict

  • trauma and abuse

  • parenting

  • life changes

  • personal growth

  • illness and chronic pain

  • spirituality and faith

Not all persons bring issues of faith and spirituality into the counseling session, but some do. SCG therapists are trained in both mental health counseling as well as theology and spirituality, and are open to the ways that one's faith may be an asset in healing and health. As noted in our mission statement, "we are dedicated to the healing of heart, mind, and soul."

Education

In addition to individual, couples, and family counseling, SCG staff members can be available to teach or facilitate workshops and training events on a host of topics. Topic themes can be tailored to the needs of your group. More information can be found on the resources for clergy page or by contacting the counselor in your area.

Consultation

As consultants, we respond to needs within the church and community by presenting workshops, retreats, and consultations designed to heal, inform and empower. Consultations may be brief or long-term and may involve crisis intervention and trauma debriefing, conflict resolution, psycho-education, re-visioning, and facilitation of transitions in the church's life. Consultation services are made available to:

  • congregations

  • clergy staff

  • judicatories

  • agencies

  • business and industry

  • professional practices
