Confidentiality
At Sanctuary Counseling Group (SCG), we value the trust you put in us. The therapeutic relationship you establish with your therapist and with SCG is a personal and private matter. As such we adhere to the strict standards of professional confidentiality as found in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC) Code of Ethics and American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics. In addition, those counselors who are national board certified (NBCC) also adhere to the NBCC Code of Ethics. Sanctuary Counseling Group is also HIPAA compliant
On occasion, your therapy may be assisted by our requesting information from other professionals with whom you have had contact. No contact will be made with any outside person and/or agency, however, without your written permission.
Your informed consent is vital to your care. Therefore it should be known that exceptions to the standards of confidentiality include those situations in which you present a physical danger to yourself or others, when child or elder abuse is involved, or when court-ordered. Details on our privacy policy and your patient rights are available in full in the privacy policy and informed consent forms, both of which are included in your intake paperwork.
