World Mental Health Day
Robyn Lowery, Ph.D., LCMHCA, CCTP
On Saturday, October 10th we invite you to join Sanctuary Counseling Group in observance of World Mental Health Day. In the best of times, the importance of mental health for individuals, couples, and families should be highlighted. Presently, the psychological and emotional impact people are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic has made it even more essential to acknowledge and offer aide to those most affected. The isolation, employment and economic losses, racial and social injustice, and heightened political polarization have intensified mental health challenges for many.
As the world adjusts to navigating a new normal, I invite you to shift your focus to renewing the mind, body, and spirit. Good nutrition, regular physical activity, and proper sleep can help reduce mental health symptoms. Quiet your mind through focused breathing, guided meditations, yoga, reading inspirational literature/devotionals, and participation in spiritual/religious services. Moreover, talking about what you’re thinking and feeling can be helpful. Select to speak with a trusted family member, friend, advisor, or clergy who is known for listening and demonstrating compassion. Lastly, schedule an appointment to speak with a mental health professional. Know that in these uncertain times, we are here for you.
